The Parish Council's Christmas Float was a great success, travelling down almost every street in the community and brought festive cheer to what has been a miserable year.
Parish Councillors were joined by Liam Webb from Maple Tree Care, who provided his time and trailer, and local resident Danni Wardle who was in disguise as the 'Elf on a shelf'.

We can now confirm that Sawley Parish Council's ( Covid safe) Road Trip will take place Saturday 12th December starting from 4pm and will tour Sawley.
The route will cover the following streets.
Leave the Co-op by 16.00 turn Right onto Draycott Road,
Peveril Crescent, Rowsley,
Wilmot Street, VIctoria Street

Sawley School gets £1,000 towards outdoor play & gym equipment.
Karen Bowers, the Chair of Governors and Friends of Sawley School is seen receiving a cheque for £1,000 from the Vice Chair of Sawley Parish Council, Cllr Dave Doyle.

This year's Sawley's act of remembrance will take place on Sunday, 8th November.Participants are asked to be in place by 10.45 am and note the Fresh guidelines that have been issued by government concerning this year's Remembrance Sunday event.Basically it makes it clear that community representatives, voluntary groups, veterans and members of the public who wish to attend to lay wreaths can do so.The... Sawley will remember them - it will be different this year, but still very respectful.
Unfortunately this year's Sawley's Act of remembrance service will have to be somewhat different to previous years to comply with Covid 19 restrictions.
Because of Covid-19 restrictions this year there will be no road closure, parade, singing or bugler.

Covid-19 might force us into acting differently - but it won't strop residents of Sawley from showing respect & remembrance on Remembrance Sunday.
Sawley's Act of Remembrance for all those who were killed or injured in the two World Wars and other conflicts will take place on Sunday 8th November.
Sadly this year's Remembrance Sunday will be much smaller and shorter in duration to comply with Covid-19... Read More »

Well done to the group of Mess Collectors - who carry out regular community litter picks at Sawley.
Prior to their latest litter pick, the Chair & Vice Chair of Sawley Parish Council, Cllr Alan Chewings & Dave Doyle, presented the group with litter picking grabbers, bin bag rings and gloves in recognition for the work they do in the community. Sawley pays remembrance to all those who lost their lives, injured, or who lost loved ones 75 years on from the end of World War 2.
Councillor Dave Doyle, Vice Chair of Sawley Parish Council laid the floral tribute on behalf of the community, while Cllr John Hey Heddle raised the flag to full mast and spoke about the need to remember and forgive.

Sawley's objection to building on green belt has gone into Erewash.
